Frequently Asked Questions
Is obedience training available for dog owners in Herndon?
Yes. Herndon is included in the Off Leash K9 Training service area. Program availability and eligibility depend on the dog, selected curriculum, and current scheduling. The company does not list a separate facility in Herndon.
What commands are covered in obedience training?
Commands vary by program. Basic Marker Mastery™ introduces come, sit, place, and loose-leash walking. Elite Obedience combines basic commands with extended-distance obedience, heel, watch, through, front, stand, and additional advanced skills.
The standard 2-Week Board & Train includes sit, place, off-leash heel, down, down from a distance, off, and full off-leash recall, along with greeting, door, and meal manners.
How long do obedience-training programs take?
Basic Marker Mastery™ and Elite Obedience run for eight weeks. The standard Board & Train, ExpeditePro™, and VIP K9 Concierge™ run for two weeks.
These durations describe the formal programs. Continued practice is important after training ends.
What age can a dog start obedience training?
The current Puppy Board & Train requires puppies to be at least 12 weeks old. The current pricing page does not publish a universal minimum age for Basic Marker Mastery™, Elite Obedience, or the adult Board & Train options.
Contact the team to confirm age, health, and eligibility requirements for your dog.
Is training equipment included?
Equipment varies by program. Basic Marker Mastery™ includes a 15-foot leash, clicker, and slip lead. Elite Obedience includes an e-collar and 15-foot leash. The standard 2-Week Board & Train includes an e-collar.
ExpeditePro™ and VIP K9 Concierge™ list an e-collar, place cot, slip lead, and treat pouch. Confirm all program-specific equipment before enrolling.
What happens after obedience training is complete?
Follow-up varies by program. The standard 2-Week Board & Train includes a two-hour transfer session and lifetime refresher support. VIP K9 Concierge™ includes a family turnover session and lifetime refresher training.
Owners should confirm the transfer process and follow-up support included with other programs. Long-term consistency depends on continued owner practice.
Can obedience training help with behavioral issues?
Obedience training can provide commands and handling skills for managing issues such as jumping, counter surfing, and door rushing.
Dogs with aggression or reactivity around other dogs may be considered for Aggressive Dog Training. Qualifying dogs with high reactivity toward people or other dogs or significant anxiety may be considered for the 3-Week Reactivity Board & Train. Complete correction of major aggression issues cannot be guaranteed.
Does every program include off-leash training?
No. Off-leash skills depend on the selected program. The standard 2-Week Board & Train and VIP K9 Concierge™ list off-leash obedience among their curricula.
Owners should not assume that Basic Marker Mastery™, Elite Obedience, ExpeditePro™, puppy training, or behavior-focused programs include the same off-leash outcomes unless those skills appear in the current program description.
