Frequently Asked Questions
Is dog obedience training available to Great Falls residents?
Behavior training can help owners develop greater control, better management strategies, and improved communication with an aggressive dog. Programs like the 8-week Aggressive Dog Training course are designed for these cases. However, aggression cannot be guaranteed to be eliminated. Results depend on the dog’s history, specific triggers, severity, and consistent owner follow-through. Some cases may also benefit from veterinary consultation to rule out medical contributors.
What obedience commands are taught in the programs?
Commands vary by program. Elite Obedience begins with foundational obedience and progresses into advanced skills such as extended-distance obedience, heel, watch, through, front, and stand.
The standard two-week Board & Train lists seven guaranteed commands: Sit, Place, Off-Leash Heel, Down, Down from Distance, Off, and Full Off-Leash Recall.
Basic Marker Mastery™ introduces Come, Sit, Place, and loose-leash walking through reward-based methods.
How long does obedience training typically take?
Current timelines depend on the program. Elite Obedience and Aggressive Dog Training are eight-week programs, while Basic Marker Mastery™ includes eight one-hour sessions.
Current Board & Train options are generally two weeks, while the Reactivity Board & Train runs for three weeks. Review current Plans & Pricing for the latest program durations.
Can obedience training help with pulling and jumping?
These are among the everyday behavior concerns addressed by the Sterling training services. The specific approach depends on your dog’s behavior and the program selected. Obedience work may include loose-leash walking, heel, place, off, and household manners.
Do you offer off-leash obedience training?
Some programs include off-leash obedience. The current standard two-week Board & Train lists seven guaranteed commands, including Off-Leash Heel and Full Off-Leash Recall.
Not every program includes off-leash work. The three-week Reactivity Board & Train is on-leash only, and Puppy Board & Train does not include an off-leash reliability guarantee. Off-leash practice should always take place where it is legally permitted.
What happens after obedience training is complete?
Owner instruction and ongoing support vary by program. Private lessons involve the owner directly throughout training.
The standard two-week Board & Train includes a two-hour owner session after completion, and select Board & Train packages include lifetime refresher training. Continued practice at home helps reinforce the skills introduced during training.
Where does the obedience training take place?
The business operates from its Sterling facility, and selected programs include work in real-world environments and around distractions. Training location varies by program, so Great Falls owners should confirm the details when scheduling.
