Frequently Asked Questions
Is obedience training available for Centreville dog owners?
Yes. Off Leash K9 Training, Loudoun County is based in Sterling and serves Centreville and surrounding Northern Virginia communities. Program locations, scheduling, and availability depend on the selected option.
What obedience commands are included in training?
Commands vary by program. Basic Marker Mastery™ introduces come, sit, place, and loose-leash walking. Elite Obedience adds extended-distance obedience, heel, watch, through, front, and stand. The standard 2-Week Board & Train covers seven listed commands plus greeting, door, and meal manners.
How long does obedience training take?
Basic Marker Mastery™ and Elite Obedience are currently listed as eight-week programs. The standard Board & Train, ExpeditePro™, VIP K9 Concierge™, and Puppy Board & Train are two-week programs. The separate Reactivity Board & Train lasts three weeks. Program length does not guarantee a specific outcome.
Can obedience training help with pulling and poor recall?
Several programs address loose-leash walking, heel, come, or recall. The exact skill level depends on the selected curriculum. Owners must continue practicing after formal training to maintain progress.
What is the difference between private lessons and Board & Train?
Private lessons allow owners to participate throughout training and practice between sessions. Board & Train is an immersive format in which the dog boards with a professional trainer. Applicable Board & Train programs conclude with an owner transfer or family turnover session.
Is equipment included in obedience programs?
Yes, but the equipment varies. Basic Marker Mastery™ includes a clicker, slip lead, and 15-foot leash. Elite Obedience includes an e-collar and 15-foot leash. The standard 2-Week Board & Train includes an e-collar. ExpeditePro™ and VIP K9 Concierge™ include larger equipment bundles.
What happens after obedience training is complete?
Owners should continue practicing the commands and handling methods covered during training. The standard 2-Week Board & Train and VIP K9 Concierge™ currently include lifetime refresher support. Transfer sessions, turnover sessions, and ongoing support vary by program.
